Natural-gas futures scored a gain of nearly 10% on Tuesday to close near their highest level in a week. Traders bet that data due later this week will show a big drop in U.S. supplies of the heating fuel.
Oil
futures finished higher, back above $97 a barrel, ahead of the market's
own weekly updates on petroleum supplies. March natural gas added 47
cents, or 9.6%, to settle at $5.375 per million British thermal units,
the highest futures price since Wednesday. March crude finished up 76
cents, or 0.8%, at $97.19 a barrel.
