NEW YORK (25/10) - MarketWatch -- U.S. stocks climbed on Thursday, picking up steam along with major companies such as Apple Inc. and Exxon Mobil Corp. , buoyed by signals of an improving global economy.
'If these companies are strengthening,' then the rest of the market will too, said Dan Greenhaus, chief global strategist at BTIG LLC. At 4 p.m. Eastern, the Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 102.68 points at 15,516.01.
The S&P 500 index added 6.19 points to 1,752.57. The Nasdaq Composite climbed 21.64 points to 3,928.64.
